After a longer break envloop records is back on the dancefloor: „Emmiel – Every Hour of Every Day“ is a groovy summer track you best enjoy with a chilled drink in your hand whilst dancing on the beach. We from envloop had asked Emmiel from Lanzarote, Spain, to come up with a nice beach-tune, and so they did.
Then, over the damp winter months we developed the tune further: E.g. with Hillberg´s House Edit, with Germany based artist Sudad G.´s jazzy Deep House Edit. And of course to complete our tune´s mission Hanover, Germany based Mightiness´ great Drum&Bass Edit and Liverpool, UK based Kooky´s UK-Edit joined in with their skills.

“Black Dog Rock EP” – Finally, Frozen Smoke’s first single release on envloop records. Known for his remixes with a hard electro twist, Frozen Smoke stays true to his style also on this release. Punchy, crispy electrobreaks riffs with a twist, heading straight into the darkness. The release boasts remixes from Kooky, NYC based artists I-Cue and Odyssey and a crispy Dubstep interpretation from Hillberg and Relate.

Having gone though a number of line-up changes, Frozen Smoke is now stripped back once more to the bare essentials – Dan, computers, synths and his love for all things electronic, electro and eclectic. That’s not to say that Frozen Smoke has stopped collaborating – „Black Dog Rock“ features the menacing guitar work of long-time collaborator Stoo Grave and there are more on the way. Besides the remix work done for fellow Envloopers – Hillberg, Der Cube, Mightiness, Kooky and I-Cue, over the years Dan has also remixed and remodelled works for Ladytron, Zion Train, Chumbawamba, Mulu and The Mighty Quark.

Hailing from Vancouver now San Francisco based ill-esha burst onto the North American electronic scene as a soul vocalist featured on various releases for the likes of Breakbeat Science, Fokuz, and BluSaphir. Her multi-dimensional approach spans Glitch-Hop, Dubstep and Downtempo, which has set ill-esha apart amidst some of electronic music’s most groundbreaking acts: Releases on trendsetting labels as Muti Music, Daly City, Haunted Audio, Dub Police and many more are amongst the landmarks of her career. Catching the ears of our audience with outstanding remixes for envloop NYC based artist I-Cue now debuts with his first own release. His previous artistic biography shows him as a producer of various albums since the mid 1990’s on New York´s most avant-garde electronic music label Jungle Sky / Liquid Sky. Being the first to execute Hip-Hop/Drum & Bass productions that formed the sound of “Hip Step”, he may count as one of the true originators and influences of Hip-Hop infused electronic music today. envloop 005: Hillberg vs. Soul Slinger feat. TC Izlam–Zulu Music 2011 E.P

A trip through time and space: In 1996 US-Drum&Bass legend Soul Slinger together with Supa MC TC Izlam (aka T-Frequency To The Love Degree) released “Zulu Music Pt.1 and 2” on his legendary label “Jungle Sky Records”, having been a platform for so many artists who made their ways into the world´s artist-elite such as A Guy Called Gerald, Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Spooky and Air Liquide, just to name a few.

On envloop 005 “Zulu Music 2011 EP” this true jewel of New Yorican Underground found it´s way into the present decade, given a treatment by it´s creator Soul Slinger and Austrian artist Hillberg. What had been anticipating “Dubstep” decades before this genre was born, now comes along as a trippy Hip Hop tune reminiscent of the sound of Stereo MC´s or Gary Clail.

As a matter of course, Envloop´s New York artists I-Cue and Odyssey were invited to contribute their remixes, having been part of DJ Soul Slinger´s “Jungle Sky” and “Liquid Sky” family in the 90’s. I-Cue comes up with a hipsteppin‘ Drum & Bass remix building an audible bridge across the decades. Odyssey then joins with his brother I-Cue and follows up with a pumping Kraftwerky Soul Sonic Electrofunk interpretation of the song.

Soul Slinger´s 1996 Original completes the transatlantic sound-journey, before we hop over “the pond” to Liverpool, England, where Kooky joins in with a UK Electrohouse version in his own typical style. Bremen, Germany based artist Diffr3nt follows up with a pumping Techhouse version that will definitely not let you hold your feet still. And still the tune´s trip in it´s new 2011 shape has not ended: From the Northern German coastline it hops to Vienna, where the Austrian talents of Struboskop dress “Zulu Music 2011” in a funky House-robe.

Kooky is based in Liverpool, England and has been an underground electronic dance music producer for the past 16 years. He has programmed, recorded, produced and released material all over Europe, mainly as part of a live five piece electronic band called ISM™(Universal Egg Records/ Category One Records 1994-2001). Kooky also performed, arranged and wrote with The Fircharmers- 1990-1994. Kooky™s style has ranged from Techno, Drum and Bass, Breaks, Dub step, Indie and House music.Kooky has released 12”s on the Silicon Hustler label, with High Days Gramaphone Records and as a member of duo Hopper™ with Lock Up Music Publishing.
He has also published dance tracks for inclusion on a library music CD(5) package through Zone Music for inclusion in films, TV and adverts.

A recent collaboration sees Kooky teaming up with sound scraping electronic live band Frozen Smoke. Fusing laptops, analogue synths, guitars and live drums.Kooky is also resident DJ for club nights and impromptu shenanigans.

2010-Demoing/ remixing for Mr Bang On-Big Dadda Records (Debut album) at Binary Cell studios-Liverpool. Other projects include a collaboration with Mad Rush MC (Chibuku and Binary Cell). Djing Mad Hatters at Leaf Cafe-Tech Funk-Electro.2009/10- Kooky in house remixer for Binary Cell Surround Sound studios.
