Bruckmayr can be introduced as one of the true, rare Indie-legends of Austria: His band projects Fuckhead, Wipe-Out and others from way back have found fans all over the globe. If you want to call Bruckmayr “Dr. Punk” or “Prof. Industrial” – it doesn’t make a difference: This tune will get you on the dancefloor. And once you’re there – stay, and wait for one of his outrageously excellent live shows. Since Envloop began, we have come a long way, having built up the label as a haven for artists from around the globe and for electronic tunes from all different styles and genres. Artists such as TC Izlam, Soul Slinger, I-Cue, Kooky, Frozen Smoke, just to name a few…

Envloop stays true to it’s basic concept to be open not only to top artists, but also to encourage musical experiments. The 2000’s, so we were told, would only leave space for labels strictly specialized in their specific genres. We chose a different path: Tracks and artists from across the spectrum of genres, just as it was when electronic music imprints first started. The only standard across the label’s releases is the high quality.

The new collection, “One Year Envloop – The Bonus Mixes” gives you a retrospective in remixed form of our work so far. Plus, it presents new artists who have given Envloop so much loyal support.

A special contribution comes from Austrian painter Hans Biwi Lechner (www.getstoned.cc), who designed our artwork on “One Year Envloop”: The original painting shown on the release’s artwork will be cut into 36 pieces and will then form the cover of a special series of CD’s.

On envloop 005 “Zulu Music 2011 EP” this true jewel of New Yorican Underground found it´s way into the present decade, given a treatment by it´s creator Soul Slinger and Austrian artist Hillberg. What had been anticipating “Dubstep” decades before this genre was born, now comes along as a trippy Hip Hop tune reminiscent of the sound of Stereo MC´s or Gary Clail.

As a matter of course, Envloop´s New York artists I-Cue and Odyssey were invited to contribute their remixes, having been part of DJ Soul Slinger´s “Jungle Sky” and “Liquid Sky” family in the 90’s. I-Cue comes up with a hipsteppin‘ Drum & Bass remix building an audible bridge across the decades. Odyssey then joins with his brother I-Cue and follows up with a pumping Kraftwerky Soul Sonic Electrofunk interpretation of the song.

Soul Slinger´s 1996 Original completes the transatlantic sound-journey, before we hop over “the pond” to Liverpool, England, where Kooky joins in with a UK Electrohouse version in his own typical style. Bremen, Germany based artist Diffr3nt follows up with a pumping Techhouse version that will definitely not let you hold your feet still. And still the tune´s trip in it´s new 2011 shape has not ended: From the Northern German coastline it hops to Vienna, where the Austrian talents of Struboskop dress “Zulu Music 2011” in a funky House-robe.

“Don´t Stop, Robot!” is a groovy, catchy Italo-Discohouse/Synthpop tune. The warm jazzy vocal bring this hypnotic tune up to epic heights, and soon you’ll be singing “Don´t Stop, Robot! Just sayin´ yes and no and yes and…”.

Track two, “Roboskop” furthers the Italo feeling on your turntable, getting you “pazzo” over it, as does track three, „Roboterotic“. Alberto Terzi´s Clubmix of “Don’t Stop, Robot” is a superb re-interpretation of the original. It´s Italo Synthpop grooves will have you doing “the robot” in no time. Why we are so sure about it? Well, because it’s worked like this on dancefloors from Shanghai to Vienna where the tune has already been tried and tested. On all those dancefloors, it didn’t take a minute to turn the “dance”floors into “Robot”floors…

German D&B artist Mightiness adds a massive D&B mix, New Yorker I-Cue contributes a funky Electro-mix Kraftwerk-style. Austrian artist Der Cube finally comes up with a chilled House mix. As always, dancefloor-burner quality comes with Liverpool based Kooky, who adds a massive UK-Electrohouse rework.

Struboskop, an Austrian dj/producer crew based in Vienna, whose crew-members Zorillah, Simeks and Techtrix “learned their skillz” in the beautiful Austrian mountain landscape of Vorarlberg. They have appeared frequently on international music-platforms and have been played by artists such as Round Table Knights (Made To Play, CH). Smalltown DJs (CAN), Social Disco Club (PRT), Top Billin (FIN), Functionist & Beware (UNLTD, AUT) and others.

Violetta Parisini is also Vienna based, a multi-talented Jazz singer who has just released her album “Giving You My Heart to Mend” on Universal. The album, produced with Florian Cojocaru, is a collection of catchy Jazz-Pop tunes but Violetta has not forgotten her commitment to electronic beats. Having discovered turntables as an instrument for herself and as an accompanying tool for her vocal-overdubs, she started a DJ-ing and singer career in 2001. Ever since, she has toured clubs between Berlin and Vienna, between Bratislava and Munich, her record-case in one hand and her microphone in the other.

Analogue Activity by the Austrian producer Der Cube is a hypnotic Electro tune, starting off mean and moody, winding up to a unique and epic sound-experience. With it’s addictive groove, the tune finds its way to a winding distorted piano melody, which will hook you further into it – either on the dancefloor or through your headphones.

New York artist I-Cue adds an “old school-breaky” Electrobreaks mix. Bremen based producer Rauschhaus completes it with a massive Electrohouse mix making it impossible to stand still. Liverpool based artists Kooky and Frozen Smoke contribute two “in your face” UK-Style Electrohouse mixes, getting it to the real thing.

MetaAmphetaMine, Envloop Records release 002, is a massive indie-club tunes release, again following Envloop’s philosophy to present a wide range of electronic music styles to the audience.

The Original is a hypnotic ElectroHouse/ElectroPop tune, as addictive through headphones as it is on the dancefloor.
The range of remixes goes from Mightiness´ massive Drum&Bass Remix over to DJ Odyssey’s Retro-Old School NYC-Breaks Rework, bringing back the early 1990’s, when House and ElectroBreaks in the style of Afrika Bambaattaa ruled the streets of New York.

Caligari’s Serbian „Midnight Scissors Remix“ will let you slip back to a time and place in the 1980’s and has a distinctive touch, as if Bela Lugosi had gone into the studio with John Carpenter.

Of course the other mixes, which bring the vibe bang up to date, are jewels of their genres. Witness Liverpool’s Kooky with his Techhouse rework, all fizzing synths, slinky bass and funky groove. Also from Liverpool, Frozen Smoke’s ElectroRmx starts minimal and rises to epic heights.

A perfect sensation is the MetaAmphetaMine-Remix by James Kinninmonth: It is hard to believe this talented Liverpudlian artist is only 17 years (!) old – but his Techhouse Remix is massive as if he had been into “business” since years:
No surprise: James Kininmonth as a matter of fact IS in the business since years: He already released tunes and mixes on four different international labels, and DJs since he was six years old!
We from envloop records are definitely proud having given James Kinninmonth a platform for his art – go and see by yourself.
