I-Cue feat. Ill-Esha - When The Bass Drops E.P.

“When the Bass Drops” comes with the potential to absolutely enchant you: Massive trippy-funky dubstep-riffs meet with ill-esha´s unique soul voice – a magical acoustic tightrope walk between Dubstep, Hip-Hop, Soul and Trip-Hop as I-Cue himself calls it…. Trip-Step or Dub-Hop. Hailing from Vancouver now San Francisco based ill-esha burst onto the North American electronic scene as a soul vocalist featured on various releases for the likes of Breakbeat Science, Fokuz, and BluSaphir. Her multi-dimensional approach spans Glitch-Hop, Dubstep and Downtempo, which has set ill-esha apart amidst some of electronic music’s most groundbreaking acts: Releases on trendsetting labels as Muti Music, Daly City, Haunted Audio, Dub Police and many more are amongst the landmarks of her career. Catching the ears of our audience with outstanding remixes for envloop NYC based artist I-Cue now debuts with his first own release. His previous artistic biography shows him as a producer of various albums since the mid 1990’s on New York´s most avant-garde electronic music label Jungle Sky / Liquid Sky. Being the first to execute Hip-Hop/Drum & Bass productions that formed the sound of “Hip Step”, he may count as one of the true originators and influences of Hip-Hop infused electronic music today. He has worked with producer/engineer Carlos Bess (who actually engineered this release), emcee T.R.A.C. (Next Level $#it) and remixed artists such as Texta, Gravediggaz, Craig G, Tasha & Cridge, Prime Mover & Chuck B. as well as a collaboration with Muffler. Brilliant remixes from different genres come from: NY based artists Odyssey and Billy Ray Stylus, ill-esha herself, Germany based artist Mightiness and UK based artists Kooky and Frozen Smoke gallantly join the illustrious round of artists.

envloop 006: One Year envloop! Out June 6, 2011

envloop006-150

One year of Envloop Records: A reason to celebrate for us, but also an opportunity to thank you, our audience.

Since Envloop began, we have come a long way, having built up the label as a haven for artists from around the globe and for electronic tunes from all different styles and genres. Artists such as TC Izlam, Soul Slinger, I-Cue, Kooky, Frozen Smoke, just to name a few…

Envloop stays true to it’s basic concept to be open not only to top artists, but also to encourage musical experiments. The 2000′s, so we were told, would only leave space for labels strictly specialized in their specific genres. We chose a different path: Tracks and artists from across the spectrum of genres, just as it was when electronic music imprints first started. The only standard across the label’s releases is the high quality. Continue reading…

Dan Barrett aka Frozen Smoke. Liverpool. UK.

DanBarrett | Frozen Smoke

Dan Barrett (Keys/Computer) + Stoo Grave (Guitars) + Joey Zeb (Drums)

Liverpool, England – based, Frozen Smoke are currently working on completing an album due for release in the Autumn of 2010. So far, the sessions are producing a bubbling stew of electronic, electric and eclectic tracks. From the pounding electro anti-war clarion call of “The Great Beyond” to the Mexican zombie fever dream soundtrack of “Cobra”, Frozen Smoke are enjoying bending the genre constraints of electronica.

Containing core members of Liverpool based ex-bands Ism (Dan) and Zeb (Joey), their collective achievements are diverse: toured extensively throughout Europe, played at Glastonbury, counted the legendary John Peel as a fan, performed music to cows in the Austrian hills and shocked a plethora of European dub fans expecting something completely different (actually – that was just Ism)… Continue reading…
